Are you trying to decide to use concrete versus asphalt for
your driveway? Consider these facts in your decision.

Asphalt |
| Durability |
A concrete driveway can last up to 30 years. |
With proper maintenance, asphalt will last between 8 and 10 years. |
| Maintenance |
A one-time
sealing with a water-based sealer is recommended to protect
your driveway from water intrusion, de-icing chemicals, acids,
oils and greases. |
Asphalt needs to be sealed every year. |
| Curing Time |
Within 5 to
7 days, concrete is cured to a psi rating high enough to
drive on. The complete
cure time is 28 days. |
Asphalt will
remain soft and pliable for up to twelve months. During
this time, it is advised that you
do not park your car in the same spot every day to prevent
the asphalt from becoming permanently indented in that area.
Also, bicycle kickstands, high heels and anything else with
weight in
a concentrated area will create holes in the asphalt. |
| Beauty |
Concrete's durability means a surface free from ugly potholes,
ruts, and damage from petroleum products. |
Dips, dents, and potholes are a common occurence in asphalt paving. |
